A Message From the We Promise Foundation

When you look into the eyes of parents who have endured the pain of seeing their child suffer from hardship, you’ll see unimaginable heartbreak and fatigue, along with a deep, genuine love for their child. If you look a little deeper, you’ll also see the hope that exists in spite of adversity, thanks to the We Promise Foundation’s gift to make their child’s dream come true.

With your support and participation, we can help children struggling with life-threatening or chronic illnesses fulfill their dreams. Their wishes come in all shapes and sizes—from being ballerinas for a day to catching the perfect Australian wave. What may seem like a small request—to attend a Major League baseball game, to have a brand new puppy, or to have a picture taken with Snow White at Walt Disney World—means the world to them.

To see magical smiles stretch across children’s faces and to give them and their families irreplaceable memories to last a lifetime—that is why we ride.

About the We Promise Foundation

As the charitable arm of Chartway Federal Credit Union, the We Promise Foundation is dedicated to making dreams come true for children struggling with degenerative, life-threatening, debilitating or chronic illnesses, or those facing tremendous hardship. The foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) public charity that provides support to help children with a single goal: to put smiles on the faces of children by making their dreams come true.

The foundation was launched in 2005 based on the enduring success of Chartway’s charitable events. Since 1999, Chartway and We Promise Foundation have raised more than $5.8M to lighten the burden of more than 1200 children through our partnerships with numerous chapters of The Make-A-Wish Foundation, St. Mary’s Home for Disabled Children, Families of Autistic Children in Tidewater, Toby’s Dream Foundation, Roc Solid Foundation, The Matty Fund, Rock-n-Jock Charities and other charitable children’s groups who share our passion and mission to make a difference.
